Moxfield to build their own MTG Social Network

With the current Musk Twitter exodus, we see many upcoming Social Networks gaining some momentum, such as Mastodon and Tribel. While some old-school socials are suddenly becoming trending again, such as Tumblr and even the completely-wiped-from-existence MySpace. What noone expected though, would be a social network completely build around Magic: The Gathering!

This week, out of the blue, Moxfield announced their upcoming new social media platform to replace Twitter. The showed a mock-up of what the site might look like, using some random twitter posts to fill it with content. The use of actual twitter posts did get some people confused as it being just a new interface for current twitter, but as what can be gathered from Moxfield follow-up posts it seems to be an actual stand-alone, newly, build up from the ground, social network focusing completely on Magic: The Gathering.

Not much details have been shared about it yet. But the mock-up looks quite exciting. Moxfield noted that companion mobile apps are also in the works.

Meanwhile people have been asking about blue checkmarks, which really is a hot topic on Twitter right now due to Musk changing his mind daily on how they should work. So, it’s understandable that people would like some guidance on how they will be implemented on Moxfield Social. Moxfield let people know that a real verification system is not yet in the works, however there will be badges for Patreon supporters.

A release date has not been set yet.
